Why Do Dogs Turn in Circles Before Lying Down?

In this #LivelongTip, we’ll talk about a behavior you’ve probably observed in your furry companions: circling before lying down!

This behavior has ancient roots that date back to wolves, the ancestors of our beloved dogs. In the wild, wolves used to look for a comfortable spot to rest in tall grass and vegetation. Circling before lying down had an important purpose: to flatten the vegetation and create a cozy, obstacle-free space for sleeping.

Although our modern dogs no longer need to flatten tall grass in their beds, this instinctive behavior remains. It’s a habit deeply ingrained in their DNA through generations.

So, the next time you see your furry friend spinning before curling up, remember they’re connecting with their natural roots in a charming and curious way. It’s a lovely reminder of the deep bond they share with their wolf ancestors!
