Here are some interesting facts about our beloved felines. Did you know these?
- They don’t perceive sugary tastes.
- They have a complex language: Cats don’t meow to each other—except kittens to their mothers to indicate hunger. Each cat has its own unique meow, so no two felines make the same sound. However, the main way cats communicate with each other is through body language, gestures, and sensations rather than sounds.
- Cats dream!
- They have poor close-up vision: Because they have very large eyes and are hypermetropic (farsighted), cats cannot focus on anything within 30 cm. But their powerful whiskers come to the rescue—they can detect objects that their eyesight cannot.
- Adult cats are lactose intolerant and drinking milk can cause diarrhea.
- House cats live longer than stray cats.
- Did you know that cats can be left- or right-handed?
