How to cheer up a sad dog?

Dogs are naturally playful animals. That’s why, when our dog appears more lethargic than usual, we become concerned.
In this #LivelongTip, we’ll review some tips to improve their mood.

If your dog has suddenly changed its behavior and seems sad when it wasn’t before, follow these steps:

  • Check their health. Examine and touch their entire body (legs, nose, mouth, ears, etc.) to see if there’s anything stuck or any painful wound. A vet visit can help rule out health issues.
  • If they seem healthy, try offering an activity they love. For example, do they want to go for a walk? Do they get happy if you offer them some food? Do they want to play with a ball?
  • Speak calmly to them, just as you normally do. Never shout or force them to play or move if they don’t want to.
  • If nothing works, let your dog rest and try again later.
  • Also keep in mind that older dogs don’t have the same vitality and energy as young ones, so it’s normal for them to spend more time lying down and resting.

Important tip: Nutrition also plays a crucial role in your dog’s well-being. A balanced and nutritious diet can help improve their mood and energy. At Livelong, we understand the importance of good nutrition for your pet’s overall health.
